PM Modi Highlights 'Operation Sindoor', India-Australia Ties During Melbourne Address

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a gathering of more than 30,000 members of the Indian community in Melbourne during his three-day visit to Australia, with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also in attendance.

Welcoming Modi, Albanese described him as a "true friend of Australia" and praised the growing partnership between the two democracies. Modi thanked the Australian Prime Minister for the warm reception and highlighted the Indian diaspora's contribution to Australia's development and multicultural identity.

Speaking about India's progress, Modi said the country is moving steadily towards becoming one of the world's top three economies. He highlighted India's achievements in digital infrastructure, noting that 99% of the country's districts are now covered by 5G services. He also said India is preparing to launch its own space station and advance its Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.

During his speech, the Prime Minister also referred to Operation Sindoor, saying its impact was felt globally despite the strikes targeting terrorist camps. He said the operation reflected India's firm stance against terrorism and emphasized the country's commitment to strengthening its manufacturing ecosystem under the vision of "Grow More, Achieve More."

Modi also underscored India's humanitarian approach, stating that the country extends assistance during global crises without discrimination. Referring to relief efforts following the recent earthquake in Venezuela, he said India responds to those in need regardless of nationality or passport.

The event celebrated the strong cultural and strategic ties between India and Australia, with Modi expressing confidence that the relationship would continue to deepen in the years ahead.
