Gangster Chinu Pandit Released After 10 Years; High Alert Issued Across West UP and Uttarakhand

Notorious gangster Chinu Pandit, infamous for referring to his pistol as his “beloved,” has been released from Roorkee jail after spending nearly a decade behind bars. Released on conditional bail, his return has put police forces across western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on high alert.

Authorities remain cautious due to Chinu Pandit’s long-standing and violent rivalry with the Sunil Rathi gang, which has led to several bloody clashes over the years. Intelligence agencies are closely monitoring his movements, fearing he may attempt to rebuild his weakened criminal network after release.

Police records suggest that despite being in prison, Chinu allegedly continued efforts to strengthen his influence and recruit new associates. Security arrangements around the jail were intensified during his release to avoid any untoward incident, especially recalling the deadly 2014 gang war outside Roorkee sub-jail, where three of his close aides were killed in broad daylight firing.

Officials have stated that law enforcement agencies will keep a close watch on his activities to maintain peace and law and order in the region.
