Kashi Vishwanath Temple Introduces All-Day Dedicated Entry for Varanasi Residents
Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directive, local devotees can now use a separate entrance from early morning until late night with a valid ID, except during major festivals.
The administration of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple has introduced a new facility for residents of Varanasi, allowing them to access the temple through a dedicated entrance throughout the day.
The decision follows instructions from Yogi Adityanath during his visit to Varanasi on Wednesday. He directed temple authorities to create a more convenient entry system for local devotees while ensuring smooth crowd management at one of India's busiest pilgrimage sites.
Under the revised arrangement, Varanasi residents can enter the temple through Kashi Dwar (Gate No. 4B) by presenting a valid government-issued identity card. The entry window has been extended from 4:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., allowing locals to visit the temple at any time during these hours.
Previously, residents were permitted to use the dedicated gate only during two one-hour slots—from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The special entrance, known as Kashi Dwar, was introduced in 2024 to improve access for local worshippers.
Temple officials said the expanded timing is aimed at making darshan more convenient for Varanasi residents while maintaining orderly movement of pilgrims.
However, the administration clarified that this relaxation will not be available during major festivals and other significant religious occasions, when heavy footfall requires stricter crowd management measures.
