Jharkhand Finance Minister Returns Security Cover, Cites Practical Concerns
Radha Krishna Kishore sends back 16 security personnel and three official vehicles, reportedly over inadequate convoy arrangements.
Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore has returned his entire official security detail, including 16 security personnel and three government vehicles, in a move that has sparked political and administrative discussion.
Although the minister has not publicly expressed dissatisfaction, reports suggest he was unhappy with the police headquarters' response to his request for an additional vehicle for his security convoy. He had reportedly written to the Director General of Police (DGP), seeking better transportation arrangements for the security personnel, but no decision was taken.
According to sources close to the minister, the existing convoy arrangement forced security personnel to travel in overcrowded vehicles, making the arrangement both inconvenient and inefficient. Frustrated over the issue, the minister decided to return all three vehicles along with the deployed security staff.
On Friday morning, Kishore attended a programme at Khelgaon Stadium before travelling to Project Bhawan Secretariat. Observers noted that he was not accompanied by his usual security personnel during the visit.
Explaining his decision, the Finance Minister reportedly said that maintaining a convoy of three large vehicles solely for the movement of 16 security personnel was neither practical nor appropriate from a security management perspective.
The development has drawn attention to the logistical arrangements surrounding VIP security in Jharkhand and may prompt a review of existing protocols.
