Mahua Moitra Slams Yusuf Pathan Over Alleged BJP Proximity, Sparks Political Buzz

Kolkata: A fresh political controversy has emerged within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after party MP Mahua Moitra publicly criticized fellow parliamentarian and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan in a strongly worded social media post.

Mahua Moitra, considered one of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s most trusted leaders, reportedly took aim at Yusuf Pathan over his recent political activities and alleged proximity to the BJP. In her post, Moitra questioned why Pathan was “rushing to Delhi” and claimed that he had been called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“You played cricket for the country, and the people of Bengal elected you as an MP. Have some shame and keep your spine strong,” Moitra wrote in her sharp remarks directed at the former Indian cricketer-turned-politician.

Yusuf Pathan, who was fielded by the TMC from the Berhampore Lok Sabha seat against senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, secured victory and entered Parliament with the backing of Mamata Banerjee and the party leadership.

However, recent reports of Pathan campaigning for the BJP during municipal elections in Gujarat have triggered speculation over his political stance and sparked criticism from within TMC circles.

Mahua Moitra’s remarks have since ignited debate on social media, with supporters and political observers discussing whether internal tensions are emerging within the ruling party in West Bengal.
