Sharad Pawar's Surprise Meeting With Eknath Shinde Sparks Political Buzz in Maharashtra

A surprise meeting between NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has triggered fresh political speculation in the state.
Pawar visited the Maharashtra Legislature in connection with a meeting on the Maharashtra–Karnataka border dispute. During his visit, he went directly to Shinde's office, accompanied by senior party leaders Jayant Patil, Jitendra Awhad, and Shashikant Shinde.
Although Shinde was attending a cabinet meeting, he reportedly paused the session to welcome Pawar. The two leaders held a closed-door discussion for around 15 minutes, a move widely seen as a gesture of political respect.
The meeting comes shortly after six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs joined Shinde's faction, fueling speculation that Shinde could be looking to expand his support base further. Political observers believe Pawar's visit was also aimed at reassuring his own party members and signaling that he remains actively engaged with Maharashtra's evolving political landscape.
The interaction is also being viewed as an indirect message to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, suggesting that Pawar continues to maintain open lines of communication with key power centers in the state. Neither leader has disclosed the agenda of their discussion, leaving room for continued political speculation.
