Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Dropped as Sanju Samson Returns for Final England T20I

India made a key change to their playing XI for the fifth and final T20I against England in Southampton, with 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dropped from the team. Experienced wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson returned to the side in his place.

Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest player to represent India in T20 internationals during the second match of the series, had a difficult start to his international career. Opening the innings in three matches, the left-hander scored 15, 13 and 14, and struggled against England's short-pitched bowling.

India, already trailing 0-3 in the five-match series before the final game, opted to strengthen their batting with Samson's return. The 31-year-old had played the opening T20I before being replaced by Sooryavanshi for the next three matches.

At the toss, India captain Shreyas Iyer said the team wanted to stay positive despite the disappointing results. "We need to stay in the moment and not think too much about what has happened. We have made two changes—Sanju Samson comes in for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Harshit Shedge replaces Washington Sundar," Iyer said.

Although Sooryavanshi's first international series ended earlier than expected, the teenage batter is regarded as one of India's brightest young talents. The experience gained against a strong England side is expected to help his development as he prepares for future opportunities.
