Vaibhav Suryavanshi Creates History on India Debut, First International Six Leaves Fan in Pain
The 15-year-old became India's youngest-ever international debutant before smashing Jofra Archer for his maiden international six at Old Trafford.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's long-awaited international debut turned into a historic occasion as the teenage sensation became India's youngest-ever international cricketer at 15 years and 99 days, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of debuting at 16 years and 205 days.
Playing at Old Trafford, Manchester, the left-handed batter lived up to the hype with his fearless approach. Suryavanshi registered his first international six in style by taking on England speedster Jofra Archer, one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket.
Interestingly, the two have previously shared the dressing room at Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Suryavanshi created room for himself before flicking Archer's delivery over deep fine leg for a stunning maximum. The shot, however, led to an unfortunate incident in the stands.
As the ball flew into the crowd, two spectators attempted to catch it but failed. The ball struck one fan on the hand, leaving him in visible pain as those around him checked on his condition.
Despite the incident, Suryavanshi's debut marked the beginning of what many hope will be a bright international career. Breaking one of Indian cricket's oldest records and confidently taking on a world-class fast bowler, the youngster made an immediate statement on the biggest stage.
