DLSA Gurugram Organises Legal Awareness Camps on World Population Day
Focus on family planning, maternal and child health, population awareness, and free legal aid
On the occasion of World Population Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gurugram organised a series of legal awareness camps across the district to educate citizens about family planning, the impact of population growth, and the legal services available to them.
The camps were conducted under the guidance of Narender Sura, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of DLSA Gurugram, and under the supervision of Nisha, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.
Panel advocates and Para Legal Volunteers informed participants about the significance of World Population Day and highlighted the importance of family planning in building healthy and prosperous families. They explained that planned families contribute to improved maternal and child health, a better standard of living, and balanced social development.
During the awareness sessions, officials discussed the social and economic consequences of unchecked population growth. They noted that rapid population increase places significant pressure on natural resources, healthcare, education, employment, housing, and public infrastructure. It can also contribute to challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and unequal distribution of resources.
Citizens were encouraged to adopt responsible family planning practices to support the well-being of their families while contributing to the nation's sustainable development.
Participants were also informed about various government schemes related to maternal and child healthcare, reproductive health, and family welfare. The panel advocates and Para Legal Volunteers emphasised that population stabilisation plays a crucial role in promoting economic growth, environmental conservation, and an improved quality of life.
In addition, the District Legal Services Authority provided detailed information about the free legal aid and legal services available under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Eligible citizens were encouraged to approach DLSA Gurugram whenever they require legal assistance and avail themselves of the free legal aid provided under the Act.
