Nitin Gadkari Moves Bombay High Court Over Alleged Deepfake and Defamatory E20 Content

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has initiated the process of filing a civil suit in the Bombay High Court against the online circulation of alleged deepfake and defamatory content targeting him and his family. The High Court has granted him permission to proceed with the lawsuit.

According to the petition, Gadkari intends to name Meta, along with other social media platforms and unidentified individuals or entities, as respondents for allegedly hosting or enabling the spread of the disputed content.

The controversy revolves around online posts claiming that Gadkari and his family personally benefited from the government's E20 ethanol-blended fuel policy. The petition contends that these claims are false, defamatory, and misleading, and that the circulation of such content has caused reputational harm.

Through the legal action, Gadkari is seeking appropriate relief against the dissemination of the alleged fake content and aims to hold those responsible accountable. The case also highlights growing concerns over the misuse of deepfake technology and the spread of misinformation on digital platforms.

The matter is expected to come up before the Bombay High Court as the legal proceedings move forward.
