Ram Temple Trust Revamps Donation System Amid Offering Theft Probe
Three joint signatories will now oversee banking operations, while enhanced security measures have been introduced as the donation theft and fake receipt investigation continues.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has introduced major reforms to its donation management and banking system amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of temple offerings.
Under the revised rules, all financial transactions from the temple's bank accounts will now require the joint signatures of Executive General Secretary Krishna Mohan along with Jagdish and Chandan Rai, replacing the earlier system that relied on a single authorized signatory.
The trust has also significantly tightened security at the donation counting centre. A total of 43 personnel will oversee the counting process, while 13 additional CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure continuous surveillance. Moreover, 27 SIS security guards and additional police personnel have been deployed to monitor the movement of cash from donation boxes to the counting facility.
Sources told Aaj Tak that the resignations of senior trust members Champat Rai and Anil Mishra came as the trust's rules allow the removal of office-bearers found guilty of irregularities through a two-thirds majority vote. However, the trust has previously maintained that both leaders stepped down on moral grounds.
Investigators have also uncovered an alleged fake receipt racket, where accused individuals allegedly collected donations directly from devotees using forged receipts carrying the trust's logo. Officials say the fraud became difficult after the introduction of the temple's online donation receipt system.
The investigation remains underway as authorities continue to examine all aspects of the alleged financial irregularities while the trust moves to strengthen transparency and accountability.
