Prime Minister Narendra Modi Set to Overtake Nehru’s Democratic Tenure Record

New Delhi: On June 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to enter the history books by becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister in a continuous elected tenure, surpassing the record held by Jawaharlal Nehru.

Since taking office on May 26, 2014, after leading the BJP to its first-ever single-party majority in three decades, Modi has completed 4,399 consecutive days in office. This surpasses Nehru's democratically elected tenure of 4,398 days, which began on May 13, 1952, and continued until his death in 1964.
