Tahseen Poonawalla to Protest Against Ethanol-Blended Petrol Policy at Jantar Mantar on July 5
TV personality says demonstration will be held under the 'Team Bharat' banner; warns of protest outside Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence if police deny permission
New Delhi: Entrepreneur and television personality Tahseen Poonawalla has announced a protest against the Centre's ethanol-blended petrol policy, scheduled for 2 PM on July 5 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The demonstration will be organised under the banner of Team Bharat, with Poonawalla alleging an "ethanol scam" and calling for greater transparency in the government's ethanol blending programme.
According to Poonawalla, the protest aims to highlight concerns over the Centre's ethanol blending policy and its alleged impact on consumers. He said the demonstration would demand accountability from the government over the implementation of the programme.
Poonawalla also stated that if the police do not grant permission to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar, the group will instead stage a demonstration outside the residence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The planned protest comes as the government's ethanol blending programme continues to draw debate. While the Centre says the initiative reduces crude oil imports, cuts emissions and supports farmers, critics have raised concerns over its implementation and potential impact on vehicles.
