"I Don't Really Like You Anymore": Alexander Zverev's Joke Steals the Show After Wimbledon Final Loss
German star jokes about his nine-match losing streak to Jannik Sinner after finishing runner-up at Wimbledon 2026.
London: Alexander Zverev may have fallen short in the Wimbledon 2026 men's singles final, but the German tennis star won over the Centre Court crowd with a humorous speech during the trophy presentation.
Moments after finishing runner-up to Jannik Sinner, Zverev jokingly told the newly crowned champion, "First of all, Jannik, I don't really like you anymore."
The remark was met with laughter from spectators before Zverev revealed the reason behind the joke.
"I've lost to you nine times in a row," he said with a smile, referring to Sinner's dominant record against him.
Despite the disappointment, Zverev was full of praise for the Italian world No. 1.
"Congratulations to Jannik. He showed once again why he's the best player in the world," Zverev said, acknowledging Sinner's outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
Sinner came from a set down to defeat Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 and successfully defend his Wimbledon title. The victory earned the Italian his second consecutive Wimbledon crown and fifth Grand Slam singles title.
After converting championship point with a stunning forehand winner, Sinner collapsed onto the grass in celebration, marking another memorable triumph at the All England Club.
Although he missed out on the title, Zverev's impressive run to the final will see him rise to World No. 2 in the latest ATP rankings, moving ahead of Carlos Alcaraz, who missed both the French Open and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.
While Sinner lifted the trophy, it was Zverev's light-hearted post-match comments that provided one of the most memorable moments of the Wimbledon 2026 final.
