PM Modi Launches India’s First Greenfield Refinery, Unveils ₹1.06 Lakh Crore Projects in Rajasthan

Balotra, Rajasthan, July 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district and unveiled development projects worth around ₹1.06 lakh crore.

The newly commissioned refinery, developed by HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL), has a refining capacity of 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and is expected to significantly strengthen India’s energy security while boosting domestic petrochemical production. The project marks the country’s first new greenfield refinery in nearly a decade.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, launched the Modified UDAN scheme to enhance regional air connectivity, and inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects across sectors including roads, railways, renewable energy, urban transport and power transmission.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the importance of expanding India's energy infrastructure and industrial capabilities, saying the projects would accelerate economic growth, generate employment and support the country's vision of self-reliance in the energy sector. He also handed over appointment letters to 54,000 newly recruited candidates as part of the government's employment drive.
