IndiGo Flight From Dubai to Mumbai Makes Emergency Landing in Rajkot, All 194 On Board Safe

An IndiGo international flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot International Airport on Monday after smoke was detected in the aircraft's cargo hold during the flight. All 194 passengers and crew members on board were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

The aircraft, operating as Flight 6E1452 on an Airbus A321, encountered a technical issue at around 2:45 PM, when the pilot noticed signs of smoke from the cargo hold. Recognising the seriousness of the situation, the pilot immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested an emergency landing at the nearest airport in Rajkot.

Airport authorities promptly declared a full emergency, deploying fire engines, ambulances, and police personnel around the runway to prepare for the aircraft's arrival.

The flight landed safely at 3:27 PM, and all passengers and crew were evacuated without incident. Rajkot Police Commissioner confirmed that everyone on board was safe and that there was no further threat following the landing.

The exact cause of the smoke is yet to be determined, and a technical investigation into the incident is expected.
