Sonam Wangchuk Urges People to Appreciate National Achievements Beyond Politics

New Delhi: Education reformer and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has appealed to people to rise above political divisions and appreciate the achievements of national institutions, stressing that progress should be acknowledged regardless of ideological differences.

Responding to criticism over his recent praise for the Vande Bharat train service and Indian Railways, Wangchuk said people should not become so narrow-minded that they refuse to appreciate the success of any government institution.

"We should not become so narrow-minded that if an Indian institution, like ISRO, were to land astronauts on Mars, we would still hesitate to appreciate it," Wangchuk said.

His remarks came after he faced backlash on social media for commending the Vande Bharat trains and praising improvements in the railway network. Critics accused him of endorsing the government, while supporters argued that acknowledging good work should not be viewed through a political lens.

Wangchuk maintained that appreciating the achievements of public institutions is not the same as supporting a particular political party. He emphasized that national accomplishments belong to the people of India and deserve recognition irrespective of who is in power.
