The Indian contingent has won 2 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals, with weightlifting and para athletics emerging as the country's strongest disciplines in the opening week.
Leading India's medal tally is Olympic champion Mirabai Chanu, who clinched the gold medal in the women's 48kg weightlifting event. Another gold came through Sharmila Dhankar, who topped the podium in the Women's Shot Put F57 para athletics event.
India's silver medal winners include Rishikanta Singh (Men's 60kg Weightlifting), Muthupandi Raja (Men's 65kg Weightlifting), Gyaneshwari Yadav (Women's 53kg Weightlifting), Valluri Ajaya Babu (Men's 79kg Weightlifting), and Sarvesh Kushare, who earned silver in the men's high jump.

Australia continues to dominate the overall medal table with 59 medals (26 gold, 13 silver, and 20 bronze), followed by England with 32 medals and Canada with 21 medals. India currently sits eighth but is expected to improve its position as medal-rich sports such as boxing, badminton, wrestling, and shooting get underway in the coming days.
With several of India's traditional strongholds yet to begin, the country's medal tally is expected to grow steadily as the Games progress.
