Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu Slams Diljit Dosanjh Over 'Satluj', Alleges Historical Distortion
The minister questioned the film's portrayal of historical events, raised concerns over its funding, and criticized Diljit Dosanjh's remarks about security abroad.
The controversy surrounding actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's film Satluj has intensified after Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu launched a sharp attack on the actor, accusing the film of distorting historical facts.
Bittu questioned the film's depiction of events related to human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, alleging that the timeline presented in the film is inaccurate. He stated that former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh had already been assassinated before Khalra's arrest, and urged that history should not be misrepresented.
The Union Minister also raised questions about Diljit Dosanjh's claims regarding security threats while living abroad. Additionally, he alleged that Diljit had personally invested in the film and questioned the narrative surrounding its release and subsequent removal from the OTT platform.
Satluj, a biographical drama based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, premiered on ZEE5 on July 3 but was removed from the platform two days later, triggering widespread debate. The film highlights Khalra's efforts to expose alleged illegal killings and secret cremations during Punjab's militancy era.
