No More Pink Tickets: Delhi Women Must Carry Pink Smart Card for Free Bus Travel from August 1

Women travelling for free on Delhi's DTC and cluster buses will no longer receive the familiar pink paper tickets. Starting August 1, the Delhi government will make the Pink Saheli Smart Card mandatory for availing free bus travel.

Under the new system, women without the Pink Saheli Smart Card after July 31 will have to purchase a regular ticket to travel, as the existing paper-based pink ticket scheme will be discontinued.

The Pink Saheli Smart Card is a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) designed to make free travel more transparent, seamless, and digitally trackable. Instead of collecting a paper ticket from the bus conductor, passengers will simply tap their card on the ticketing machine inside the bus. A digital ticket will then be generated instantly, confirming their free journey.

The move is aimed at modernising Delhi's public transport system while ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in the implementation of the free travel scheme for women.
