BCCI Confirms India A Tour of Nepal, Three-Match T20 Series Scheduled for December
India A will play three T20s in Kathmandu as BCCI continues its efforts to support Associate nations, with several young stars expected to feature.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially confirmed India A's tour of Nepal, where the team will play a three-match T20 series in December 2026. The tour is being viewed as a significant boost for Nepal cricket and reflects the BCCI's continued commitment to supporting the growth of Associate nations through bilateral engagements.
The series will begin on December 9, with the second and third T20s scheduled for December 11 and December 13, respectively. All three matches will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The tour was finalized following discussions between Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Secretary Paras Khadka, and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia during the ICC Annual Conference in Scotland.
With cricket's popularity rapidly growing in Nepal, the series is expected to attract large crowds and generate significant excitement among local fans.
One of the biggest talking points ahead of the tour is the likely composition of the India A squad. Since the Indian senior men's team has no T20 International assignments scheduled during that period, selectors are expected to use the series as an opportunity to test promising young talent and T20 specialists ahead of a busy white-ball calendar in 2027.
Young stars such as 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Prince Yadav, and Suryansh Shedge are among the players who could be considered for selection. The tour is expected to provide valuable international exposure for emerging cricketers while strengthening cricketing ties between India and Nepal.
The series also highlights BCCI's broader strategy of promoting competitive cricket in emerging nations, helping Associate members gain experience against strong opposition and contributing to the global growth of the sport.
