The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the biggest edition of football's showpiece event, with an expanded 48-team format producing a record 104 matches across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament begins on June 11 with hosts Mexico taking on South Africa at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, while the final will be played on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

For the first time in World Cup history, 48 nations are competing, divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two teams from every group, along with the eight best third-placed sides, will qualify for the newly introduced Round of 32.
